Dawn At The Alamo

Inspired by the 1960 film “The Alamo”

Art by John Robert Beck

This art was created 2014. In 1960 John Wayne released a film called “The Alamo”. Historically it was not the most accurate depiction of what happened during those 13 days of glory in 1836. However as for pure entertainment, and for those who also were watching the Disney’s version of the Davy Crockett saga, this was a very big deal.

ARTIST NOTE – The Alamo chapel that was depicted in the film was wrong historically (no upper windows), but the cross on the top of the shrine, and the lone sentry made such a power statement, that I had to respond with art. – J.B.
